"Athlete of the Month: Rosalinda Nava"

Birmingham Community Charter High School Girl's Soccer Game - Jan. 30, 2019

I was able to use the wide lens for the first time while photographing Rosalinda during this soccer match. I had to basically run alongside her as she ran up and down the field to try and get the best photos possible. The wide lense took very zoomed in photos compared to the other lense I was accustomed to using which did provide a challenge while photographing but it provided much cripser images.

One of these photos also appeared in the Feb 2019 issue of our newspaper. Click here to view.

Water Polo

"Athlete of the Month: Amelia Sanchez and Ben Sanchez"

Birmingham Community Charter High School Water Polo Practice - Feb. 27, 2019

If I'm being honest, Water Polo is probably my favorite sport to photograph. There's something about the bright blue water splashes and hand movements that always leave me in awe. I went to Water Polo practice this day to photograph two of our students for our Athlete of the Month coverage. Although dodging the splashes was often a difficult task, it was definitely worth it.

These photos also appeared in the March 2019 issue of our newspaper. Click here to view.

Yearbook story: Softball players profile

Birmingham Community Charter Girl's Softball Practice - March 29, 2019

The struggle while taking these photos was that we had to take them through the fence. This caused awkward shadows on some of the photos. Another challenge was also making sure that the softball was captured in the photos. Regardless, I still walked out with some pretty strong photos.

Homecoming

"Patriots bring home win during festive homecoming celebration"

Birmingham Community Charter Girl's Softball Practice - Nov. 1, 2019

Photographing this homecoming game was the first time I took photos of football besides the few practices I attended. My partner and I were constantly traveling from the stands, where we photographed the game and parade, to the ground, where we photographed the DPMHS student who is on the BCCHS cheer team.
