"Students attend CSUN Future Currents Festival"
California State University Northridge - April 5, 2019
A group of DPMHS students attended a Future Currents festival at California State University Northridge. I really enjoyed this photographic experience since I had never really photographed people dancing before. Below are some of my favorite photos from that day.
"Spring Concert brings L.A. to life"
Annual Daniel Pearl Magnet High School spring concert - May 3, 2019
The DPMHS music concerts are easily some of my favorite events held at my school. Although our music department is small, they perform about 2-3 concerts each year. Ever since sophomore year, I have been photographing this event and it has been by far the most challenging. The room is usually dark and the lights are constantly changing, making it difficult to capture crisp images. As a photographer for the event, I would attend every rehearsal they had to practice, get accustomed to the light constant light changes and be prepared. Below are some of my favorite photos I've taken.
A trip to Placita Olvera (Olvera Street)
Mexican Marketplace - July 1, 2019
With its bright colors and eye-catching vendor stands, Olvera Street, a Mexican market place that is often considered “old Los Angeles,” is full of perfect storytelling moments. On July 1, 2019, I headed to this marketplace and documented my experience through photojournalism.
Remembering a party through photography
Valeria Luquin's 16th - Nov. 16, 2019
While attending a friend's birthday party, I decided to pick up a camera and document the gathering. Since the party was glow-in-the-dark, I was able to utilize the lighting in my favor. Here are some of the photos I took.
