My Role as Magazine Editor-in-Chief:
Quarantine edition

Oversee section editors and staff writers.

Sets monthly deadlines and plans ahead for the entire academic year. This school year, we began publishing virtually every month. I also set 'late days' for our section editors which are when we meet on Zoom after the school day to work on the magazine.

Leads the brainstorming and assigning of stories for each print issue. During virtual learning, we ask every staff writer to fill out a brainstorm sheet through a google form and then share them out on Zoom during brainstorm sessions.

Designs the cover page and any news pages for each issue. This school year, I worked to update the design of our magazine, from folios to our table of contents and back page.

Edits news stories and works with individual staff writers to improve their stories.

Helps section editors edit stories and design pages.

Assign multimedia elements/illustrations for the news section.

Upload stories and photographs from the news section to www.thepearlpost.com
